Wedding Cake Topper - Sabine & Michael

I had a great honor and opportunity to make a Wedding Cake Topper for a wedding of my colleague Michael and his now wife, Sabine.
It was a challenge and a pleasure to reproduce a cartoon drawing into a 3D good looking couple :-)

I am happy with how they look like, but more importantly,
Sabine and Michael were very happy with them as well.

Thank you, and all the best to Michi and Sabine!

Hannah Montana Cake

Larissas early Birthday Cake. Today she celebrates her birthday with
her school Class before they are all gone on Summer holidays. Hannah
Montana is a big hit for girls Larissas age - when we brought the cake
they were all excited about the todays party!
Hannah Montana photo is not done by me. :)  But the cake and the decoration I made myself.  This is a RAINBOW cake (4 colors!)
Larissa reported that cake tasted great and it was all gone!  Children were all asking her how did I do this colorful cake :-)

2010 - My most recent cake.  Dear friend Renata, asked me to make a cake for a birthday of her colleague/friend.  I had a freedom to choose the design as I please, but it had to be a chocolate cake.

I made a chocolate cake and filled it with nougat.  I was informed people liked the cake.  :-)

This time I decided to make a present / box.  I have seen it on many "cake pages" and now I decided to do it too.  The color was darker then what I intended, but the ordered colors did not arrive on time.  However, I believe that this dark purple goes very well with the off white.

I had several totally new projects here.  I never did a box before, and I never did this kind of quilting on the sides before (besides I had no idea if it will work with mmf at all since mmf does not dry so fast), I never did this kind of roses before either!

While trying to find out how to do roses so they end up looking like roses, I found a great video on youtube that helped me achieve exactly that.  And again, without too many tools!  While doing it, I descovered that corn starch works wonders with mmf....  :-))

Yes, I know the box lacks on perfection but I will get there!
2010 - Cake tasting 02

Second cake for the same occasion.  This time strawberry cake - a big mistake this time.  Strawberryes were this time in the fill mixed together with the whip cream etc.  Although the cake was made just a day before and it was in the fridge until the next day, and in spite that the cake was outside the fridge only for approx 2 hrs, strawberries fermented.

Again, I still did not know how to crumb-coat the cake..... although this would not help me much in this case, I guess.

Butterflies on this cake were made of gelatine and were painted and decorated with Royal Icing.  An experiment I did.  It works well, and it could be used for some other deco as well.
2010 - Cake tasting 01 - Coconut/Pineaple cake.

Still working with MMF.  This time I tried to make these "roll" roses.  They turned out ok but I still need to work on perfection here.

I was very happy with leafs.  Usually they say, you need some cut outs and moulds for doing leafs.  Well, you do not.

I cut them out free hand, and then using a little mini tool (like a tiny pizza cutter) I made these lines on them.  Very easy and no tools needed.

At that time I still had only MMF to work with and had no idea how long do these roses and leafs need to dry.  Oh yes, and I still did not know how to crumb-coat properly!  This lead to a small diseaster.... but all survived :-)  Personally, I liked the taste very much.  It was a coconut cake with a pinaple fill.  Mmmmm!
2010 - My first official public cake!!  I was so excited!  It was Leon's birthday and my dear friend Andrijana decided to take a risk and have me make cake for that big occasion.

It was a strawberry BEN 10 cake.

Well I was satisfied how it turned out.  What you do not see on this photo is, "Happy Birthday" that goes all arround the cake - same kind of letters like LEON on the bottom.

These green candies had mellon taste - I liked them ;-)

But, what was the most important, Leon was very happy with his cake!  And this little gentleman has a picky taste....  :-)
2010 - Easter Cake - Still not having colors...  But, I decided to go to a toy store and I bought some cut outs.  These chicks were done with that.  Once I started to go into this cake thing more I realised I can get many things much cheaper then shopping in specialty stores - one just have to know where to look.

So this cake is very pale.  Not too eastery but cest la vie!  I wished I could have some grass, some color for butterflies and chickitos...

Oh yes, at that time I still had no idea one should crumb-coat the cake.....
2009 - This was my first cake made with MMF.  It was a great adventure I started.  And I realised I just might have more fun with it than expected.

This is a beginning of a SWEET journey!

The reason why there are not many cakes on this blogg at the moment is the fact that I just started the whole cake business!  Just recently I discovered my new hobby and I fell in love with it!

You are invited to join me on this journey of learning CAKE DESIGN - on my own!!

Since I do not have a chance to attend Wilton Cake Design Classes or any cake design class for that matter, I spend hours and hours watching Wilton Classes on YouTube, and surfing hundreds of pages of various cake designers.  One can learn so much!  It is very exciting!  So many techniques, tipps and tricks, recipes, ideas, beautiful cakes!  So inspiring!

I will try to summ up what I did so far, including all my ups and downs while doing it.

I hope you will find this to be great fun too :-)
